M2000 and TomTom 5

I have just upgraded to TomTom 5 on my M2000. There is a problem where the on screen keyboard is not displayed for entering routes etc. as a hardware keyboard is detected :evil: . This has 2 problems:

first, inorder to use the keyboard I have to take the m2000 out of the cradle which is not practical when you are driving.

second, when you use the keyboard it does not work correctly as the fn key does not work properly to input numbers.

I have been onto TomTom who say they are aware of this problem but do not know when they will have a fix for it :)

My question is does anyone know if it is possible to disable the hardware keyboard so only the on screen keyboard is available until a fix is issued by TomTom?

BTW: did not have this problem with TomTom 3

Hi,

Yep - as you say, it's a known problem - there are various threads about it - on xda-developers.com and pocketgps.co.uk.

It's a pain, but you can use the external keyboard to enter addresses but without numbers and postcodes (luckly numbers work on the postcode screen).

Apparently TomTom are working on a fix.

I had this problem when I first installed v5 on my M2000 (as well as not being able to use full length postcodes).

I found a fix on the Tom Tom website that said to copy a folder called "Zip" from my storage card to the "My Documents" folder.

This allowed me to use full length postcodes and fixed the keyboard problem, too.

Just been on the TomTom website. They have now released the TomTom Navigator update to V5.1. This has fixed the keyboard problems. 8) :) :D :D
