Guest NoNafs Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 I got a mpx220 off ebay and the guy said he couldn't configure the network, i figured it was an easy fix and jumped on the phone. When i got the phone, everything seemed to work fine, but when i put the sim card in it showed some bars, but it still said no service. I changed the profile to normal mode, and still no service. I have tried installing different firmwares, but to no avail, any ideas?
Guest Paraklas Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 (edited) I had the same problem when I tried to use a non-activated SIM card in roaming. To be more precise, I had a Vodafone New Zealand SIM card that was not activated and I tried to use it in USA and in Greece. Phone had full signal but could not connect to any network at all therefore I had "No Service" thing. Do you thing you are experiencing such scenario? In addition, go to "Start", "Settings", "Phone", "Networks" and set "Network Selection" to manual and pick the network that the SIM card belongs to. Edited July 7, 2005 by Paraklas

My cousin suggested i take it apart, which shouldn't be too hard to do, but i wouldn't have a clue of what to look for. Forgot to mention that after a about 30 seconds of showing bars but "no service" the bars also go away and i get the little circle with the slash through it, indicating no service.
Guest chromium67 Posted July 9, 2005 Report Posted July 9, 2005 :) I just bought a brand new sim free MPX220 and have the same problem.... I have tried changing bands, selecting network manually....nothing works... Nothing like a £250 paperweight......even tried a Pay & Go sim that works perfectly in a Z600...same. Shoudl have just got another C500 but i hate the orange branding and quite liked the idea of a flip phone after playin with the Z600. I have email Motorola, called O2, been in the O2 shop and so far haven't got anywhere. The Rom is 1.280.000.....considered upgrading to the 1.43 but don't want to risk not being able to return to the online retailer I bought it from. Why oh why did I buy a Motorola....what #### called them smartphones...should be shot! Please can someone tell me a fix for this....supposed to be a birthday present....some bleedin birthday!
