Guest Weavo Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 Hi all, Probably a strange request, but I've an SPV C500 and I'm using it on Vodafone, well, almost (see here for my problems). Anyway, does anyone know of a none distructive way or removing the small Orange emblem from the top right hand corner of the phone? It appears to be some sort of painted/printed on image, but has anyone successfully removed it? As I say, I know it's a strange request, but I do prefer to have certain things unbranded and stealth like :) Thanks.
Guest Meyithi Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 Sugar Cube is the preferred method. Guest smeg36 Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 I have found Pure Acetone (nail polish remover) and a Q-Tip to work very well. I soak one end of the Q-Tip in the acetone, then scrub the logo with it until it is gone. Then dampen the other end of the Q-Tip with a little water, and gently rub the area to be sure you get all the acetone off the area to ensure there is no damage to the casing. Then dry the area, and viola.
Guest armakarma Posted July 8, 2005 Report Posted July 8, 2005 ACETONE? NO NO NO!!!! :) This may work, but is risky. I have been using the following method with all my previous phones and have coincidently just performed this on my i-mate Jam. Get yourself a rubber eraser the type which is half red/half blue. Use the Blue end and rubFIRMLY over and over. One tip here, cover the keys with some sticky tape before hand to stop any mess getting in between the keys. GOOD LUCK!!!
Guest Weavo Posted July 8, 2005 Report Posted July 8, 2005 Thanks for all the advice! I think I may go for the nail polish remover method, as I'm not keen on the abrasive properties of the eraser. Hopefully the nail polish remover will break down the paint to remove the emblem. Is the 'SPV' bit just as easy to remove?
Guest confused and hungover Posted July 8, 2005 Report Posted July 8, 2005 it might be worth looking HERE if you want to make it stealthy, i'm thinking about giving mine a dark green matt finish, military style

WORKS! Edited July 8, 2005 by Joost39
Guest xda-rocks Posted July 8, 2005 Report Posted July 8, 2005 Meyithi and Joost39 are not joking, this really is the best method. The sugar cube is not too hard and removes the print nicely.
Guest Weavo Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 Well, the nail polish remover didn't work and I tried 2 different 'brands' from the good ladies collection and I used a cotton bud. So, I guess I need to source myself a sugarcube and will post back.
Guest Driekus Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 Is the 'SPV' bit just as easy to remove? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The SPV bit came off all by itself in just a few weeks of normal use on my C500, so I guess you could just rub it off with your finger...
Guest marcyspark Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 Hi all - I just scratched the spv bit off with my fingernails...... just after reading this. I then had a look at the orange logo. Its a bit more difficult but if you are very careful you can use the corner of a 2 pence piece. Rub it across the orange badge until you start to feel it catch. It will then break the seal over the orange logo and a couple of pieces of it will come away... You can then just use your nail to do the rest - with the 2p to help with any tough bits. Please note that the square edge of the orange badge is a little tricky with your nails - requiring perseverance and some changes of angle. Mine looks great now - really happy! I tried acetone on my old P900 and ended up damaging the plastic. Just my two penneth (ha ha - bloody joker!!!) Brummiemarc
Guest marcyspark Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 (edited) sorry guys - duplication - pc is playing up! Maybe I should try a 2p on that! Brummiemarc Edited July 20, 2005 by marcyspark

Guest bigdan Posted August 14, 2005 Report Posted August 14, 2005 The sugarcube sounds weird but is definately the best and easiest way to remove your Orange logo. I was so impressed when I tried it, you'd never know that little orange square existed!! :)
