Guest linker3000 Posted July 8, 2005 Report Posted July 8, 2005 Sounds like the SPV blues..."Well, I woke up this morning...." ...and my C500 had a totally flat battery - it was charged yesterday evening but I have a suspicion that it may be duff because battery life over the last few days seems to have been pretty bad and the batt/phone is only about 1 month old. Anyway - I switched on the phone, it powered up and immediately warned me about the battery and shut down again..SO... I took the phone with me to work and impaled it on a USB charging lead as per normal but it's not charging and I can't get it to switch on. Before I call Orange and report a duff phone/batt it occurred to me that perhaps a totally flat battery will only charge from the proper power adaptor - I can't check this until I get home tonight but wondered if anyone had any info on this. For info, I have removed the battery for 10 mins just in case the phone was somehow locked up but this has not made a difference. Apart from that, great phone! Thanks L3K
Guest jhinchl Posted July 8, 2005 Report Posted July 8, 2005 You will indeed need to recharge it using the supplied adaptor, the usb cable doesnt seem to have enough juice to get it going once its totally flat (not for me anyway), but a quick charge with the mains will get it going again.

Mind you this would be a bit of a pain if you're away on business with just a laptop and USB cable - kinda defeats the purpose if you *must* carry the mains charger everywhere. I'll keep an eye on the battery life. Thanks L3K
Guest fduvall Posted July 8, 2005 Report Posted July 8, 2005 I lost my main charger in some hotel room. Found out the hard way that it would not charge from USB when completely dead. Had to find a Cingular store and ask them to charge it for a few minutes. Then it seemed to work fine. Seems quite strange that this happens... FDuvall <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you can find a 12V AC CLA adapter that puts out > 1A, your car charger will do the trick. Either that, or roll your own AC adapter with something capable of pushing 5V at > 1A. That's what I did. :)
