Camera Failure on C500

Well, I got my C500 back from HTC last week after sending it in because it kept crashing and turning itself off. HTC ended up replacing the whole phone, so it must have been a problem with the main board.

Anyway, I've been using the phone all weekend and I'm tickled pink with it - it's great! However, something happened yesterday that gave me cause for concern. I tired to start up the camera and I was presented with an error message saying the camera device could not be started. I turned the phone off and tried again - same message. I checked to ensure no programs were running that might be taking up memory but there was nothing. I left it a few minutes and then tried again, and it started up fine. Strange.

I'd been using the camera for photos and videos all weekend and this only happened the once. At the moment I'm inclined to put it down to just being a bug, after all this is a PC that thinks its a phone so these little hiccups are to be expected. I think I was in an area of limited reception so maybe the phone was putting all its resources into trying to get a signal, and therefore the it refused to give processing power to the camera. The camera is working fine now (I turn it on every hour or so to check!).

Has anyone else had this? If there is a problem with the camera I want to get the phone back to HTC before the warranty runs out.

After a few days without any problem, this has happened again.

The camera wouldn't start up last night, started the phone up this morning and it still wouldn't start.

Just tried it about half an hour ago and it works. I have no idea why this is happening.

I've got in touch with HTC about this, but if it's a fault that keeps coming and going every few days it's hard to prove the phone is faulty.

Someone else must have experienced this?

I've contacted them via their feedback system (as I already have a case number from sending the phone back last time). I've not heard anything as yet.

The camera is now working fine, so I've no bloody idea what is causing this. I've not done anything or even turned the phone off this morning, so I can't understand why it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't!

Well HTC have gotten back to me and have requested that I send the phone in for repair. I have to admit they've been more than helpful both times I've had to send my phone back (if only they could improve the build quality of their handsets...).

Hopefully this will solve the problem, but I'm worried about them not finding any fault - the camera is working fine now. :?:
