Guest AaronW Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 =D> apart from the 4 xtra buttons, what else does this thing have :-k ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Another 4 buttons! :)
Guest confused and hungover Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 Another 4 buttons! :) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i'm really pleased to see holland getting these new devices first, but i already have a C500 and an M500... think i'm about set for now. i don't think the C550 is that much of a leap forward
Guest spacerace Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 (edited) well it does also have improved screen resolution and 1.3MP camera. I'm due an upgrade and can't wait for it. I use my C500 for much music/podcast listening so the extra buttons should be very useful. held the dummy model in an Orange shop today (while they quoted my arrival "sometime this month"). it is slightly thicker than the C500 but still feels perfectly acceptable in a pocket. fingers crossed for wednesday... Guest Dumdidum Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 (edited) In Switzerland it is also for sale The 1.3mpix-Camera is not the real deal, not bad but not the decisif argument! But the 240x320-Screen is simply marvelous, unbelievable! Edited July 11, 2005 by Dumdidum
Guest TheBadger Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 Dunno if this is a silly question. But anyone know if the C550 will be available in black (as for the C500)? I prefer the black C500 to the silver.

It's never happened to me, and I can only think there was perhaps a batch of phones with a poor seal or perhaps it was a poor design they fixed in later releases of the phone.

Or did it just mess up the display a little bit? I first thought that the dustproblem caused audio problems.

I first thought that the dustproblem caused audio problems. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> no, no audio problems afaik. for some people it made the screen unreadable, there's an image somewhere here I think of a particularly bad dust problem where the screen was hardly visible ! but for most people I think it's just an annoying problem seeing little bits of dust buildup behind the screen.
Guest guanche Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 (edited) I've got the phone since saturday (orange shop NL), and i'm really happy with it. Ok, the camera quality is not great when shooting with poor lighting, but in daylight it really does the job. About dust issues, they assured me (in writing :) ) that I will get a new phone within a day if such an error may occure. A big leap forward from my SPV Classic :D I payed €4,95 in combination with Orange Free 42,50 p/m for 1 year EDIT: Oh, forgot to mention that it came with an 512Mb miniSD card from the box! (with the SPV classic I got 16Mb  ) EDIT EDIT: I Asked also for an black version, but the sales guy said they were not expecting any black versions... Edited July 12, 2005 by guanche
Guest SheepWorrier Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 Has anyone tried this new phone with TomTom Mobile 5 yet? Is it compatible?
Guest guanche Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 Has anyone tried this new phone with TomTom Mobile 5 yet? Is it compatible? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No it's not compatible yet because of the screen resolution change. I don't think it will take to long, since they have plenty of experience with that resolution on pda's.

Some hints for newcomers. 1: Software unlock the phone on the UK Orange developers site 2: Then copy the .cab file on your SPV Windows/Temp directory and execute from the FIle Manager of the phone (under Accessories) 3: Then run the SPVServices.exe to unlock
