Guest dreamz23 Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 Hi, i have a O2 XDA IIs. I have been using the gprs to browse web pages, and chat on msn messenger. I recieved a bill from O2, saying that from the 20 June to 27 June i used up 23MEGS of data. Along with that came a fat bill. I think it's wrong as in my opion it is impossible to use up 23 megs of data in 7days if all i do is check mail 2/3 times a day and use messenger for about 30mins a day max and thats only 3/4 days a week. O2 refuse to take the charges away, they say that they don't make up data charges, i say that they do. They can't provide me with a breakdown of the pages i browsed either. 1.) Is there anything i can do? 2.) Is it possible that by browsing web pages and using msn i downloads 23megs of data in 7 days?
Guest Pondrew Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 Hmmm. Not much I can say to help I'm afraid. GPRS usage with Mobile operators remains something of a mystery for many as strangely high bills seem to pop up from time to time. My father had a similar experience to yours with his SPV C500 although in that case Orange claimed he had used 9meg in 4days. All they could tell him was that it was definately internet usage and not emails. Given he hadn't accessed the internet once, (only downloaded emails) he didn't buy it and talked them into crediting him back. If you had a GPRS monitor (I'd recommend SPB GPRS Monitor: Microsoft were offering a 30% discount a couple of days ago but can't find it now...) it would help prevent overuse in the future and maybe help support any disputes you have in the future. Once again, sorry can't be more help. :)

O2, refuse to budge, they say that there system is correct and they don't make up charges!    ](*,)
Guest Samsonite Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 (edited) O2 have got problems with GPRS charging... I bought a bundle that should have kicked off from the first of this month and i should have been billed for usage before the bundle. I am still to be charged for the bundle or even the previously used data... No-one at O2 customer services can help or seem to understand that i want to pay for the bundle!!! Orange never got the bill wrong - altho i am surprised that the GPRS charging is split between WAP and internet surfing... surely a byte is a byte is a byte irrelevant of where it goes! Unfortunatley, i think O2 have all the trump cards. If you dont pay, they cut you off and blacklist ya. If you dispute the data charge, the usual custoer service rep hasnt got a clue beyond the party line and at the end of the day they will simply stonewall you. I think the Office of Fair Trading needs a well constructed approach as all of the networks could be rampantly screwing us ALL over for a pound each month - dats a lotta cash and who's gonna pick them up on it...? Guest dreamz23 Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 it's bullshyt i tell ya... i told them that too but the orc on the other end of the line won't listen! i was told that gprs comes off your free mins when you online. i called in to add the 5meg bolt on data bundle, i was told that it was done. When i called in the following week to confirm, i was told that it was not done, and that they will do it. Now i have 2 x 5meg blot on bundles and a £50 bill #-o customer service in this country sucks!
