Guest kewl_01 Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 Just bought the O2 Xphone 2m a week ago and after using it, i realised it has many flaws. when using the shortcut to send an sms, which is done by selecting the person’s sms number from the phonebook, instead of showing the name of the person as the recepient, the number is shown. If u compose the sms in the long normal way, by going to messages, new sms, and selecting a name from the phone book, then then recepients name will be shown. And for example if the number is shown instead of the name ( 04xxxxxxxx ) and you want to edit it to put a prefix for an aussie number so it becomes ( +614 xxxxxxxx ) you cant. you can put in the prefix but cos after putting in prefix, you would need to remove the front 0 and you cant do that. You can try to backspace, and it deletes the whole number. If u decide to scroll to the number u want to delete, it just skips to the front or right to the back.. You cant like scroll to a particular position within the number. If the name is shown instead of the number, you can't even add a prefix when finding a contacts, u can search for contacts by typing out their tel number. So if someone happens to ask u if a number is familiar, u can just type in the number and it will match the name. One bug i realised is that this function only works, if the number that you are searching for is set to the default number of your contacts. So if your friend has multiple phone numbers under his name and u search for the number which is not set to the default number for him, it will just say no matches. Dumb.. they should have programmed it to check for all number instead of just the default one. SMS function with the t9 input is great. Works like a charm but one thing I can’t figure out is how to select a word once you have typed it. IN nokia’s phone, once you have type something and presss the space button, you can select the last word by scrolling back. It automatically selects the last word. For my smartphone, it selects letter by letter. Tedious I must say if i wanted to select the entire word so I can use the t9 function to scroll through all the possible word combination. no cut and paste function in contacts or any of the inbuild softwares. You open up a contact and you want to copy the email into another contact details. You would have to memorise it and retype it again. Cant cut and paste. when sending mms, you cant search for your contact. You would have to scroll down till u find the particular person you want to send it too. You cant search for a particular name. If your contact list is 500 people and the person is right at the back, you would have to scroll till you reach the end of the list. Dumb, I must say. I wonder if anyone else encountered these problems. Is there any way to solve these user unfriendliness of the phone? Overall, it is a great phone but minor details like this makes it a bit hard to use.
Guest kewl_01 Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 Am i the only one who has these problems? :-k
