Guest ashlie_r88 Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 (edited) Hi, I am concidering downloading the Orange C500 update, Does anybody happen to know if it will re-lock the phone to only Orange? I have unlocked it and am using it on O2 contract. Please help! Ash Edited July 12, 2005 by ashlie_r88
Guest Confused Stu Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 No other ROM update Orange have released has re-SIM locked a phone. I am assuming this one won't (can't?) either, but I'm still with the original O, so I can't tell you for definite though.

Guest usdiver Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 If you paid 20 pounds to unlock it the first time, either with orange or imei-check, this rom will not re lock your phone.
Guest nvkid909 Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 hi, my phone is connected to active sync over bluetooth. is it possible to perform the update this way, or do i need to get it back to using the usb ports?
Guest usdiver Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 I am clueless when it comes to bluetooth... usb cable is what I use.
Guest ashlie_r88 Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 (edited) I am the same about Bluetooth, I have updated my phone and it is still unlocked and is still working on O2. Does anyone happen to know a good place to get TomTom Mobile 5 for my handset? Edited July 13, 2005 by ashlie_r88
Guest usdiver Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 I would say going direct through the manufacturer would be the best option. (don't know but it's what I usually do for things.....
Guest jr7887 Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 Hi The new ROM does not lock your phone back to Orange, I'm on Vodafone and it is still working fine after the update. One thing the new ROM does do however is screw around with your Bluetooth COM port and serial port settings, which means that Tomtom Mobile no longer connects to the GPS receiver. It will remove the menu item "BT Serial Port Setup" and instead adds a menu item in the Bluetooth settings section entitle "Add a COM port". No amount of fiddling so far has managed to get it to work. Very annoying!!
Guest Cybox Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 I can also confirm the tomtom Statement.. After an hour of trying different things with com ports I can't get it connecting to my GPS device... Very annoying indeed and I don tknow if we have to wait for tomtom to release an update or MIcrosoft/Orange to get something done abotu the crap Bluetooth they provide.... They need to take a look at how Sony Erricson deal with Bluetooth, by far the most advanced use of bluetooth ive every seen out of any of the manufacturers.!
Guest bob_123 Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 Has any one found a resolution for this yet? I got a new phone which appears to have the upgrade on and cannot get TomTom to see my GPS?
Guest MOD-C500 Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 Hello, i want to install the new update but wanted to find out if my phone will stay sim unlocked as i am running on o2. i unlocked it the free way using the (SPVServices) software.
Guest Disco Stu Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 Your phone will still be SIM-unlocked but you will need to application unlock again.
