Hi,

Does any UK phone supplier provide "broadband" for phones? I am not 100% sure but I think we're talking about EDGE or EVDO or something like that, right?

And if there is such a service available in the UK, are there any phones which have this facility?

Failing that, is this technology which is likely to be out any time soon?

Thanks

I think the only way to get BB on a phone is thou using WiFi all not much use if you are no where near a WiFi Hotspot :)

What about EDGE? Or 3G? Is that "broadband" phone speed?

And are there any Windows phones (smartphone or PPC) which support 3G or EDGE?

GPRS gives you a top speed of 386kps or something thats more than enough to connect to the web. If you want more speed than that you have to go for a orange or vodaphone 3G datacard

Hi,

I use a program called Onspeed (£24 a year subscription) which compresses the data from the website you wish to view and sends it to your phone.

Basically this means that the pages load a broadband speeds and if you are on a metered GPRS tariff you only use a fraction (about 10%) of the data you would normally use.

It does not work on files that are already compressed so it is no use for downloading MP3s etc.

I believe there are some cheaper programs out there that do the same thing but I had signed up by the time I found this out. DOh!!

This is not full broadband of course but as good as in my book.

Regards
