Sending Files via Bluetooth on the C500

I don't seem to be able to send files on my C500.

I have the option to send 'via email' and 'via infrared' but no bluetooth. Bluetooth is on, I've paired with another device, etc. The file I'm trying to send is a MIDI file.

There is no native support for sending files via bluetooth on the c500. You need to use a 3rd party application. SmartExplorer is one I think.

Ah, cheers.

But of an huge bloody oversight, but if there's a fix then I don't suppose I can complain.

I've located SmartExplorer - which costs money to download!

Now I'm not going to begrudge someone for charging cash for their hardwork and the developer of SmartExplorer has every right to charge for it, but isn't it a bit of a con that I can't send files 'out of the box' using bluetooth on the SPV? Even the cheapest bluetooth-enabled phone on the market allows you to do this! I find it mind-boggling that it was left out...

Any other apps that do this, but don't cost money to download?

I downloaded it for free.

Have never managed to send anything by BT from my C500 though.

The demo version of SmartExplorer can be downloaded for free. You can try it for free only that it will pop up a nag screen if you haven't registered the program yet.

I don't mind pop ups to be honest. I will probably give it a spin. Seems a bit silly downloading a whole program just for this one feature, though.

I still think this is something that the C500 should be able to do without the need to download other applications. It's a fairly basic feature of all bluetooth phones.

Haven't Microsoft themselves released some kind of add-on for the OS to enable this?

I was told that Orange have disabled this feature on purpose. The reason, if you send a photo via Bluetooth there is no cost. Orange would rather you send it using MMS.

Somethign that might help...

If you use file explorer that comes with the C500 if you want to send files via bluetooth, you have to select Beam....

I know beam is related to InfaRed however its also where it scans for Bluetooth devices... I've been happiy using that feature for a while now, but havn't tried it since the recent update was released this week!

Hope that helps!
