Guest John.medhurst Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 Updated to UK Orange ROM last night and cannot for the life of me get CoPilot from ALK Technology to function; I'm having similar problems to others with TT4/5... c500 recognises the BT GPS, the software runs, but it will not communicate with phone  I've spent most of the day on the phone to ALK (and the remainder of the day on hold), cos I use the satnav for work... TO NO AVAIL. Can anyone more learned than I suggest anything? I've tried lots of things as the instructions from ALK are designed for the e200, which worked fine on the previous ROM. But this ROM is different, don't think it lets you access BTSerialPortSetup.... I've even tried to flash the old ROM on to the phone, but it says I need a newer nbf... HELP!!!!
Guest Samsonite Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 is it an activation issue or a bluetooth pairing problem? I've recently transferred CoPilot 5 from one PPC to another and have had some dramas getting the system up and running. for me it was a BT problem that seemed to resolve itself. I know this cant really happen but i think it was thru continuous messing around pairing and repairing that cracked it. I e-mailed ALK to see if they could help but still havent had even an automated e-mail acknowledge! can you try another GPS unit or something like that?
Guest John.medhurst Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 (edited) Yeah, I think it's a bluetooth stackissue with the new rom,an issue ALK haven't encountered or allowed for... Any workarounds will be greatly received!!!!!! is it an activation issue or a bluetooth pairing problem? Guest Samsonite Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 sorry john, no real advice i can offer i'm afraid... Like i said, mine sorted itself with just messing about so nothing scientific to report... tried a hard reset and then only paired your GPS? shot in the dark...
Guest mavisdavis Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 With TT5 you dont need to do anything to get it running with a non TT unit. Just pair it up DONT SET ANY COM PORTS AS TT5 DOES THIS FOR YOU OR RENAME THE DEVICE . Then just select Other GPS Device in tomtom options and away you go :)
Guest rikwebb Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 I have Copilot running on C500 with new rom, no problems! Have you installed or reinstalled the latest patch from ALK? They supply a .cab file - but I have attached a .exe to run on PC with phone connected by avtivesync. Run the exe on your PC while phone is attached via activesync and follow the instructions. When the phone prompts to uninstall copilot - dont panic and say yes - it will uninstall then re-install without affecting your licence. This new patch gives better BT support. Run Copilot - enter the GPS settings menu Select menu, search for bluetooth Select you BT GPS It should now work. Hope this helps Rik :)CoPilot_1.0.1.69.exe
Guest rikwebb Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 Just in case - here is the info from alk's support site: The CoPilot Live | SmartPhone 1.0 patch includes fixes for reported problems while enhancing functionality with new and improved features: Simple Bluetooth configuration for all phones including MPx220 Enhanced Bluetooth GPS Setup. CoPilot no longer requires a serial port service. When prompted, Save the file to your desktop. Make sure that your SmartPhone is connected to your Desktop/Laptop and make sure Activesync says “Connected”. On your desktop find the file you saved, Right click on it and select Copy. Open the Activesync window and click on Explore. Next double click on My SmartPhone. Next double click on Storage Card. Next double click on My Documents. Next Right click anywhere in the My Documents window then click Paste. This will copy the patch file and save it to the "My Documents" folder on your SmartPhone. Once the file has been copied down to your SmartPhone, disconnect your SmartPhone from your laptop/desktop. Installation Instructions On your SmartPhone, go to Start > File Manager. Browse to the Storage Card\My Documents folder In the "My Documents" folder, you will see the file that you just copied over from your laptop/desktop. Tap on this file to start the installation. When the installation starts, You will be alerted with "The previous version of CoPilot SmartPhone will be removed before the new one is installed. Select OK to continue or Cancel to quit.", select OK to install the update. *Notes - It is suggested during the installation to install CoPilot to the "Phone" device memory and not the storage card.
