Changing the c500 startup sound...

I have tried to change the startup sound on my c500 but i am unsuccessful so far. i am using resco registry editor and using the following guide:

System Startup Sound

This is similar to all the other sound tweaks on this page, except for one difference....

THE WAV MUST BE ON THE PHONE, NOT THE STORAGECARD (nice capitals there so you can't miss it)

I presume the reason it must be on the phone is because during bootup the SD card slot simply hasnt been initialised at the time we need to play the startup sound, maybe someone could confirm this.

Anyhoo, fire up the registry editor and change this key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Control Panel/Sounds/SystemStartup

Select 'Values'

Select 'Sound'

Change Value Data to the path and name of your wav (eg, if you save the wav to IPSMWindows then the value is simply IPSMWindowsblah.wav, where blah.wav is the name of your wav file of course)

I managed to locate the folder and i found 'sound' although im not sure how to change the name of 'sound' to the name of my wav like it asks me to because is doesnt seem to want to let me and i think thats why it doesnt work. it let me change the string value where i put:

"\Storage\Application Data\Sounds\Windows XP Startup.wav"

can anyone help?

Have a look on Airfagev.com, I just downloaded a program from there that lets you select any WAV or WMA file on your phone, and set it to whatever you want - ringtone, alarm, SMS, even startup and shutdown noises.

Should do what you're searching for in a much more user-friendly method than manually editing the registry. :)
