SPV C550 and Tom Tom 5 - solution on the horizon?

I was just about to order one of the C550's on the basis that I want a phone that can run Tom Tom Mobile 5. However, the initial posts I have read here indicate that it won't work on the C550.

My question is - has anyone had an official response from Tom Tom as to whether they will have this working on the C550 soon?

I don't want to order one of these and then be waiting a month or more before getting it to work with Tom Tom (my primary reason for getting one).

Anyone know? Thanks in advance - Ben

Just as an update, I have now emailed Tom Tom and will post the response here if I get one.

It's interesting how many bits of software don't display correctly on this phone. So far both XBAR2 and PocketMusic both display in about 2/3rd of the screen space.

Finally got a response from Tom Tom...

"Thank you for contacting customer support regarding the compatibility of the C550 alongside MOBILE 5. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the delay in responding to your question.

The Orange SPV C550 may not YET be officially supported for MOBILE 5. It may gain this support in the future but this is not guaranteed. Therefore, MOBILE 5 might work on this device but we can not help you if you encounter problems. We are unaware currently of a release date of an update to the MOBILE 5 software; if this is released please refer to our website (http://www.tomtom.com) and our newsletters where we will post this information.

Also please refer to the website for up to date compatibility information: http://www.tomtom.com/2551 We update it continually when new devices are added to the list.

I have mentioned this elsewhere, as soon as I have official details regarding when TT5 compatability with the C550 will be available I will post in the News section of the site.
