Guest ptwilliams Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 I have just received my SPVC550 and am generally very happy. Have a question though. I have created a directory on the SD card for some ringtones. I used the registry application, as described in the FAQ, and changed the ringtone directory from \Windows to \Storage Card\Ringtones However, when you go into Phone, Settings, Sounds and choose the Voicemail Notification one, the files are listed, but the phone just played the Ding sound. If you choose another option, it displays "This Ring tone is not working properly, you may want to choose a different one" YET if you move down into, say, the SMS Toolkit Notification option, choose one of the ones that you chose before, it plays absolutely fine. Ideas anyone ? The error occurs on New Voice Message, New instant message, New channel message
Guest Gears Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 AGH! Bin everything you did with the registry editor, then create a folder on your Storage Card called "My Documents". Now dump an MP3 or WAV file into.. \Storage Card\My Documents Try that - I'm 98% sure that'll allow you to have ringtones from the SD card. Guest ptwilliams Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 Doesnt really resolve the problem. Yes, I can still see the my WAV's and MP3's and they play ok... but the Windows files like Orange_4, Orange_3, Alarm1 - they just beep and cause the "Ring tone not working properly" error!
Guest ptwilliams Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 Ok, im going for a slightly different tactic. Now that I know what you guys have told me about the My Documents folder on the SD, im going for a total wipe of the phone and starting again. Wish me luck :)
Guest ptwilliams Posted July 17, 2005 Report Posted July 17, 2005 Me again, What you said works, however, still doesnt resolve the Custom Ringtone thing. Can I assign ringtones for an INDIVIDUAL CALLER (i.e. custom ringtones) from the SD card ?
Guest GothTeddy Posted July 17, 2005 Report Posted July 17, 2005 not through contacts, but you can using the photo contacts app.
Guest bnycastro Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 I'm using an MPx 220 and I'd like to place my tones on my miniSD. What should I put under HKCU\SoundCategories\Rings\Directory to accomplish this? Thanks in advance.
