C550 SCREEN CUTTING OUT

Hi guys,

I know its not been out long but does anyone know if the screen for the c550 is suppose to cut out after 30 seconds of non activity

I have checked the power management settings and set display time out to never and yet the screen still switches off after 30 seconds.....is this a hardware fault or a feature?

Cheers

My C550 does this aswell.

If I set both Backlight timeout and Display timeout to never, the screen never swithces off and never seems to dim (in the 2 minutes I sat there watching)

If I set Backlight timeout to 15 seconds the whole display disappears to 'black' at the appropriate time.

If I set Backlight timeout to never and display timeout to 30 seconds it does exactly the same, display goes to 'black' after 30 seconds.

I don't seem to be able to reproduce the setting on the C500 where the backlight is off but the display is still visible.

I just held a strong light against my c550 screen and i can see the screen.

So the screen is still on but its that dull without the backlight that u cant see it......

I wonder if this is a problem with the device or just the way it is?

The screen technology is different from the 500, so this I think is the way it is, I noticed this as well. Also the screen seems to be set further back into the case than that of the 500's and I dont think that helps

Not that I think it's a problem really.

Yes you're right, the display is there, you just need the right (good) lighting conditions to see it. Shame, the C500 had a quite visible screen without the backlight on.....
