Guest kwyjibo Posted July 16, 2005 Report Posted July 16, 2005 (edited) EDIT - It looks like there is a program for Pocket PC called CheckNotifications that was made to remove this exact error. I can't find any smartphone version though but I assume the problem is the same? Anyone know how to do this on a smartphone? http://www.scarybearsoftware.com/ppc_cn_overview.html ---- The problem - Notification error on startup saying cannot execute program whatever (where whatever is some program you uninstalled or deleted). Please do not respond if you are thinking about saying check the startup folder. I have searched the forums at several groups and the best reason I can come up with is that certain programs don't uninstall correctly perhaps due to protected registry settings. In all cases I have read about nobody can find any reference to the exe name in the registry (mine included). Basically I want to know how to fix this without hard resetting. My specific example started with ThemeChanger, somehow on startup it would always pop up (as if it was in the startup folder) I couldn't stop it via software etc so decided to uninstall to fix it. The problem now is that something somewhere is trying to execute ThemeChanger on startup still and every boot I get this Notification Error cannot execute Themechanger. As mentioned above I cant find the reference in any registry search. So What?, Where?, and How? are my questions!? Edited July 16, 2005 by kwyjibo
Guest xDream Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 You can launch the PPC program on smartphone (tested on Qtek 8310\WM5). You need a FakeCursor ( http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=...5&hl=fakecursor ) to control it. First try to install CheckNotifications via ActiveSync. It will say that program is incompatible with your device but installer CAB will be placed in AtiveSync folder. Then just unpack the CAB file manualy, rename Check_~1.001 to Check_~1.exe and copy it to smartphone. Works fine. Notification error was removed 8) //sorry for my english )
