Help Needed for DX OS X ASAP

hi first off im just gonna admit it so please dont bash me im a newb and i never ever customized a phone to this extent before so if i have newb questions please bear through it with me thanks in advance =]

the thing i have a problem is i went through like 150 pages of homescreens and i finally found one i like and its DX OS X that one, made by randy. I read the directions over and over again but i still dont understand it. First off i Have a SMT 5600 and im located in the US and my company is Cingular/ATT is dat homescreen compatible with my phone???

I downloaded these programs for the screen so far. Tell me if these are the only ones i need for the SMT5600 to work perfectly with this.

dx_osx2_sd

and in the dx_osx zip i have

dx_osx2_ipsm

dx_osx2_sd

can someone PLEASE give me step by step SPECIFIC directions? i know i ask alot but please i really want this can someone be kind enough to actually answer all my questions.? Thanks in advance if anyone answer =T

First off you should title your thread something useful, if you want people to respond.

Next check out First 48 Hour with a smartphone.

Now, dx_osx2_ipsm.cab will install on your phones memory and dx_osx2_sd.cab will install on a memory card. Copy the cab file you prefer to your phone and the launch the cab with the file explorer on your phone.

hey thanks for the directions but i need a little more in depth directions. Like when where u put each file. I need the location and the folder exactly where to put the files.

Where Do I Put:

dx_osx2_ipsm

dx_osx2_sd

dx_osx2_sd- But for this one i was reading i post and i noticed its the same name dat came in the zip file but i got this from Randys thread and he said this was a update for installer in the storage card so does dat mean i install this one and not the one dat came in the zip? other words replace this one with dx_osx2_sd from zip???

pelase give me in depth directions on where to install and put these 3 files...Thanks alot in advance..

First, I am not trying to bash you but Please read First 48 Hour with a smartphone. Trust me, if you really want to get the most from your phone and truely enjoy it, read all that you can. At the end of the linked thread you will find a good explination on how to install homescreens from the various file types.

Next I don't know what dat your talking about so please link to where you got the file. The zip file I found only contains two files dx_osx2_ipsm.cab and dx_osx2_sd.cab. Copy the file you perfer (only one), based on where you want to install the homescreen (Phone or Memory card) to your phone (anywhere) and launch the file by clicking on it with the file explorer of you phone.

I would suggest installing on you phone. So use dx_osx2_ipsm.cab

Darkskin's OSX homescreen is one of my favorites. But be forewarned, it has a tendency to reset your phone to factory settings. You won't lose any files, contacts or documents, but all of your tweaks and settings will revert. (ie, your home screen will go back to windows default even when you still have the homescreen files) Unless it has been updated or patched, I expect this will happen again, must be a bug or glitch. (reset happens every 3 or 4 months of use)
