SPV C500 & C550 cameras are the same!

i have an spv c500, and my mate has recently baught a c550. one thing i noticed straight away is that the camera is exactly the same, so we did a test...

i took a couple of pictures on my c500 and my mate took exaclty the same pictures on his c550. when we got them on the computer, his were already in megapixel resulution, whereas mine were in VGA. But, as soon as i resized the pictures from my c500 to megapixel resolution, they were exactly the same!

has any body else noticed this? i think the c550 has just got software that changes the image resulution to megapixel rather than VGA. has anybody else noticed this?

Just tried this with my 2 phones, and no... the camera is def higher resolution, pop them into Photoshop and scale up the c500 shot to 1280 and the loss in detail compaired to the 1280 shot from the 550 is quite large.

The C550 definitely has a 1.3MP camera and the C500 doesn't. The pictures I took on the C550 are of much higher quality than anything I took with my C500

I was just on the website of HTC, and next to a picture of something that sure looks like a C550 it states that it has a 300k VGA camera:

It says in it's title: Smart Music Phone, and if you download the picture the file is called Amadeus.zip (the C500-file is called Typhoon.zip). In the modaco-forum they call the C550 the Hurricane, right? Maybe there are two different models here, that look the same from the outside? There's no mentioning of a product of that kind with a 1.3mp cam on their site though... I'd say that HTC knows what kind of hardware they're selling.

The HTC Amadeus is available from T-Mobile in many countries as the SDA Music and as you say it's got a vga (read 0.3) camera.

The HTC Hurricane is new (as far as I'm aware not being marketed anywhere else yet) and definately has a 1.3 megapixel camera.

No conspiracy to see here folks, move along! :)

OK, maybe HTC needs to update its site then... I just thought it looked a lot like a C550, that's why I asked.
