Guest Big_Dogg123 Posted July 16, 2005 Report Posted July 16, 2005 Just got my new O2 XDA IIs today :) and I'm well chuffed so far. I'm looking some advice as to what my 1st steps with it should be. I looked for a similar post, but couldn't find any. So if anyone has any links to a similar post or has any advise about software updates/essential freeware/decent games etc, I'd greatly appreciate it!
Guest Disco Stu Posted July 17, 2005 Report Posted July 17, 2005 Try this thread for starters : http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=201342 :)
Guest Big_Dogg123 Posted July 17, 2005 Report Posted July 17, 2005 Cheers. That's helpful. Problem is: I'm skint at the minute, cos I just got this new phone and I'm headin away soon! You know of any decent freeware? Maybe a few free games to get me started, till I get spare cash?
Guest Disco Stu Posted July 17, 2005 Report Posted July 17, 2005 You can get Muff's SPVMan & SPVInvaders for nowt on this forum and you should be able to find enough to keep you occupied till the next paycheque rolls in in this thread : Freeware by Hello_MoDaCo ...amd then there is also FreewarePPC.com :)
Guest Big_Dogg123 Posted July 17, 2005 Report Posted July 17, 2005 (edited) You seem a very helpful person, so maybe you can help me with a few problems I've been having with my new XDA IIs. The 1st problem is that my phone keeps freezing on simple tasks, in which case, I have to take the battery out and replace it to restart the phone. This is really irritating. Is there a ROM update that fixes this problem? Also, is there no way to lock the keys on the device without turning the screen off. This is to use the MP3 player without knocking buttons accidentally in my pocket etc. PS - Thanks for that link - loads of handy freeware! Edited July 17, 2005 by Big_Dogg123
Guest Pondrew Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 I put info on screen toggle for Windows Media Player in your other thread. Hope they help... As for lockups, you'd probably be better off doing a reset (stylus in the reset hole at the bottom) then remove the battery as some folks have trouble with hard resets on removing the battery. I'm afraid I've heard that the O2 Active software on the O2 XDAIIs isn't particular stable. May be the problem you're having...
Guest Big_Dogg123 Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 Yeah, I figured the soft reset out. LOL. Is there any other stable ROMs that I can install on my XDA IIs, that aren't too risky to install? I've installed ROMs before on my C500 etc. I've got the screen toggle thing workin on WMP, which solves my problem. Except 1 thing - can you assign a button to open the playlist? It isn't in the buttons settings section. This would just mean that I wouldn't have to take the the stylus out every time I wanna go through my songs to select a track. Also, on my C500 I could go to the contacts, then go to a person's number and if I hit "right" a few times, it would go to txt and then I clicked the action button and it opened a new txt with that person's number. Is there a way to do this on the XDA IIs. Again, this is so that I don't have to take the stylus out just to send a person a TXT. Cheers. Thanks by the way!
