So I got a mpx220 the other and I'd like to know if theres a way of getting the phones external led to flash when I have a new or unread sms.

Either that or get it to vibrate/beep cos the only other way of knowing without opening it every 3 seconds is to use the volume keys on the side it light up the external led.

If anyone can offer help it would be much appreciated.

This comes from another post:

Although I had set everything in the sound profiles to vibrate (or vibrate and ring), when I received an SMS, I haven't manage to make SMS vibrate. Other message alerts were vibrating normally though (Voice mail and E-mail alerts).

After trying to change every sound setting back and forth (and not getting any results), I searched the registry for SMS, and using trial-and-error, found this solution:

(Use a registry editor for the followings):

1- Open HKEY_CURRENT_USER/ControlPanel/Sounds/SMS

2- for PHM Registry editor, press Values

3- You should see three keys (Category, Script, Sound)

4- Select "Script" and open it.

5- Edit the value (originally, it is "p", but we need to change it to "av0p" -note that it not the letter O but digit zero-)

6- Send yourself an SMS, see that it vibrates, smile.

the value 'p' is for ring I guess, and 'av0' is for vibrate (or maybe just the 'v' didn't try to use it as 'vp')

-if you want your sms ring repeat, you should add 'r' at the end of the string (av0pr)

-if you want to add a delay before repeating, use w# for it (av0pw3r - 3 is for three seconds delay before repeat, you can change it as you like)

Ahh I see thanks for that, I had a look in my registry and the script wasnt even there! And reading about the whole "av0pw3r" thing its misleading cos it just kept repeating even after reading the sms.

Then after looking at the values I decided the A is for audio, V is for vibrate and P is for ???? dunno (thought it ended the process but I was wrong). So "av0p" makes it ring and vibrate straight away, whereas "av60p" would make it ring and vibrate (for 60 seconds).

So then changed my value to "av0pw10av0p" this does the normal sms notify and the repeats it after 10 seconds.

Which is what I was after but it will still repeat it after 10 seconds even if you open your phone and read the sms.

There must be an easier fix for it cos if you wanted it to notify every 10 seconds for example the value would be "av0pw10av0pav0pw10av0pav0pw10av0pav0pw10av0p" etc, etc.

Any more advise would be great.
