Guest Imran_the_Binman Posted July 17, 2005 Report Posted July 17, 2005 Apologies if anything like this has been covered before, or if it's inappropriate to ask. Hi all, If, hypothetically, I were to put in an insurance claim on my c500, which may be conveniently placed inside...er...I mean accidentally got put in the washing machine (for example), would the wonderful people (ahem) at Orange consider giving me a shiny new (but admittedly not waterproof at 40 degrees) c550? Has anyone tried upgrading their handset as part of an insurance claim? Or has the Orange Customer Service's general repsonse to such attempts consisted of two words, the latter of which being "off". If it's worth trying, has anyone got any tips or techniques which might aid my request? Thanks to all to take the time to read and reply. -Steve.
Guest kyrkesmith Posted July 17, 2005 Report Posted July 17, 2005 I believe it's very unlikely indeed, as these things generally only happen long after a phone has been discontinued, when they might offer you their official substitute. Generally, you'll just get a refurbished C500. Also, I don't think insurance fraud is really a good thing to do, however desperately you want a new gadget. Have you asked them how much an upgrade would cost? That way you can keep/sell your C500 too.
Guest Imran_the_Binman Posted July 17, 2005 Report Posted July 17, 2005 I totally agree, and am not in any way suggesting or condoning insurance fraud as a practical means of obtaining new hardware. Apologies if that's how it seemed. (Right, that's my ass covered, Orange!) In response to your second point, I haven't made any enquiries as to the cost of an upgrade, but would be willing to do so - I think that's probably a better idea too. Any further points/comments greatly appreciated. Thanks, -Steve.
