Guest monkeygadge Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 I'm currently using a Mpx220 with a 512Mb PQI Mini SD card. Never had any problems using it for music files etc etc, always copied files across no problem, but recently decided to try and get some DVD action on there using betaplayer. Anyway, I ripped a short film using PocketDivXEncoder_0.3.50 and it came out at 32Mb, transferred to my card and worked a treat. V.Impressed with the quality!! :) Tried to use it for a full feature film. Wouldn't compress using PocketDivXEncoder_0.3.50. So I used DVD Shrink 3.2 to get it on my PC, then compressed this file using PocketDivXEncoder_0.3.50, and the file came out OK. I previewed this to check it on my PC and the file is intact at 200Mb. The problem is when I copy this file to the card, it starts copying OK then gets to about 8 bars (about a fifth ~40Mb??) and goes back to the start. I left it over night to find it doing the same thing in the morning. I have tried the following - reformatting the card so it's blank, same thing happens. A different DVD, same thing happens. Has anyone else had a problem copying large files? Is it Activesync that's to blame?? Or my PC settings?? :??: :??: :??: :??: :??: :??: :??:
Guest joschmoblo Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 Hello, I formerly owned the mpx220 and now I own the 5600. I had the same thing happen on both. The copy screen shows up, it gets to three bars, and then the bars start over. Then it gets to 5 and starts over. And so on. What happened one time is I just let it load, even though it appeared to be restarting. It got to about 8 bars one round, and then it stopped. I check the phone and the film had loaded completely although the active sync looked as if it had just given up. I know you had mentioned letting it run over night, so maybe you're not having the same luck I do. Everytime I load a film through active sync, the same thing happens. But, the film loads everytime. So I would try checking to see if the dvd is actually really there. If not, my advice would be to purchase an SD card reader. There are relatively inexpensive, and where it may take 20 minutes to load a dvd onto your phone, with the card reader, it takes maybe 5. Plus you don't have to rely on Active Sync to load a dvd on. But first, check the sd card to see if maybe the dvd did load. I think it must be a bug with Active Sync, because anytime I sync and load movies, I get the same scenario. I hope this helps!
Guest joschmoblo Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 Another thing you may want to do is check what version of Active Sync you are using. Check Microsoft's website to make sure you have the most current version. Maybe updating the program will help as well. I don't think they considered making the program capable of transferring such large files when they wrote the software.
Guest monkeygadge Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 Cheers mate, glad It's happened to someone else! When you say you left it to load, did the window with the bars etc dissappear once it was finished loading the film?
Guest joschmoblo Posted July 23, 2005 Report Posted July 23, 2005 Yes.. it did go away eventually. It would get to 8 bars let's say, and then reset .. and so on. Then, eventually they screen just went away. It still does that to me.
Guest monkeygadge Posted July 23, 2005 Report Posted July 23, 2005 Cheers mate, I got it to work ok :)
