Sending T-Mobile SDA back to the UK for repair?

I'm in the US and bought my T-Mobile SDA on ebay from the UK. It had been working fine until I tried to charge it in my car. My opinion is that there was a power surge which made my phone angry :-) The phone isn't completely dead. It will turn on for a second or two and then dies. It won't take a charge no matter what.

Would someone be able to tell me my best course of action for getting it repaired? Since I'm the second owner, do you think my warranty is still valid? Where would I send it? UK or Dubai?
