Guest matpj Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 hi guys, I recently bought my girlfriend a TomTom Go 500 for her car. Its a great device and i'm very pleased with it. it allows bluetooth handsfree calling from the SPVC500 which we both have. My problem though, is the unit seems to allow the ability to get numbers fro the phone's phone book, and read/write messages etc I'm not suire if it is just the SPV C500, but when I try to use the get Number From Phonebook on the TomTom, it diaplays the message: this feature is not supported. does that mean its the phone that doesn't support it, or is it the TomTom with future functionality being displayed?!? anyone know?

You need to create a .txt file using notepad and call it "contacts", then type in the contacts you need in this format. "name","number" - just like that with speech marks. When you added all the contacts then you need to transfer this .txt file into the root directory of the TomTom SD card.

I've been looking at both the 300 and 700, trying to decide between the two. The hands free BT on the 700 looks preety good, IMO.

I like the hands free BT of the 700, but am not really sure I need it and am considering the 300 b/c of price. What would you recommend to someone on an average budget?

On the email that appears choose File->save attachments. Save them all in a folder. Copy the folder to the smartphone storage card. Get Smartexplorer EN from www.binarys.com Go to the car and use smartexplorer to send all the contact via bluetooth in one go. You select all the items by highlighting the parent folder and it shows at the top data bar what quantity is selected.
