Guest bills1974 Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 Unfortunately, I loved my MPX, but for some reason it just stopped turning on...no new software tried a new battery, different chargers, etc...called Cingular warranty and the MPX is still "backordered" so they're sending me the SMT5600. I've read great things about the Audiovox, I just hope it's as good as the MPX was... My purpose for this post was that if anyone wants to switch to the 5600, Cingular is still distributing them through the warranty program...
Guest bills1974 Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 Well, I got the 5600 last night and with the limited time I've had to play with it, these are my observations: - The MPX form factor seems much nicer (clamshell design) - The MPX has a much better storage card location - The MPX directional control seems nicer than the 5600 'joystick' - The 5600 has far and away better software(bluetooth support, task manager, WMP 10, caller id app, file manager) - The 5600 has a much better battery - The 5600 has a better screen - The 5600 is much faster - The 5600 uses a standard mini usb input. This may not seem like a big deal, but my wife has a RAZR and it allows us to use the same chargers, usb cables etc. Basically, if I could take the MPX form and keypad and replace it with all the 5600 internals and software, I'd have the perfect phone...
Guest cortez Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 (edited) welcome to the club... i gave up on my 220 after 7 months because it stopped charging. i agree with your observations, however, i'm liking the form factor because i don't have to flip open the phone to use it.
