Guest Dr_StrangeTrick Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 Hi all, I have recently upgraded to the Orange C550 and I thought I would let you all know that Mapopolis works beautifully on the C550 and it now utilises the new high resolution on the device. This I believe makes Mapopolis the first SmartPhone SatNav product to work in QVGA mode :) Map of central Solihull on my old E200 Same map on my new C550
Guest drblow Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 Is this a new version you downloaded? Or does the old mapopolis work without any adjustments?
Guest Dr_StrangeTrick Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 (edited) Hi Drblow, I am using the current version 4.57 from here and it runs at high res straight off without having to do anything and with the C550 display being so bright and crisp it makes using it fantastic :) Edited July 20, 2005 by Dr_StrangeTrick
Guest mavisdavis Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 I've just been in the car trying to get this to work on my C550. The proggy runs fine but I cant get it to talk to my fortuna. How have you set your comports? Ive come from a C500 old romm to this new rom with the BT Settings all wierd
Guest drblow Posted July 21, 2005 Report Posted July 21, 2005 Hi Drblow, I am using the current version 4.57 from here and it runs at high res straight off without having to do anything and with the C550 display being so bright and crisp it makes using it fantastic :) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks! :D This would seem to be another reason to get a C550.
Guest Dr_StrangeTrick Posted July 21, 2005 Report Posted July 21, 2005 Hi Mavisdavis it took me sometime to get my TomTom BT GPS talking to the C550. Open Bluetooth in the Settings applet then menu and devices, menu and new and bond to your device. When this has been done from the main BlueTooth screen press menu and go to COM Ports I set the incoming port to COM6 (clear the secure connection box) but I had to 'fiddle' around a few times until I managed to get "TomTom Wirelsss GPS" to appear and assign this as the outgoing port COM7. Once I got COM6 and COM7 showing Mapopolis worked first time. Good luck it took me a few goes :)
Guest mavisdavis Posted July 21, 2005 Report Posted July 21, 2005 Hi Dr. Thanks for the reply. Seeing as Im a big fan of TT I've opted to send my C550 back and wait until I can get a eten and run TT on that instead. @drblow. The C550 aint all what its cracked to be mate. The screen res problem with the games and apps that Ive spent the last 3yrs collecting (and paying for) really got on my tits. I just cant justify paying out all over again just for the sake of a higher resolution. ( Just my opinion)
Guest Confucious Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 CoPilot works fine (apart from some minor problems with some of the text dispalay) and with the latest update you don't need to worry about com ports - it just works! I think the C550 is great :)
