M500 and Windows Mobile 5

Hi All,

I think that I have chosen my next phone, which will be an m500. As my contract comes up in september, I have to wait a couple of months anyway before getting it. I think september is the time when windows mobile 5 comes out - do you think that the m500 would come with it? If not would there be a chance to upgrade the phone to it? I don't really want to get a device where the software is already old.

I think its a pretty safe bet to say 'no' on all counts. I can't ever recall Orange releasing a version of an existing product with a new OS, or offering an upgrade path for it.

I.e. no upgrade for SPV Classic/E100 users to WM2003, no upgrade for E200 users to WM2003SE.

Sure, patches and updates to that version of the OS, but not an upgrade of the OS itself.

I persoanally dont rate WM5, I think its a bit of a waste worrying or even postponing getting a good phone like an m500 for a WM5 one. There is hardly any difference that is noticeable. Yah, fair few backend changes, but nothing to big. I'm getting the m500 shortly even though it doesnt have WM5. I have windows mobile 5 on my c500 and i dont like it. I much prefer WM2003.

I say upgrade in september. Who knows there may be a new WM5 pda out then that is as small as the m500, no doubt it will happen.

Im not so sure they wont offer an upgrade to wm5 though. Dell are providing upgrade cds for Axim users.
