Unlocking C550 without sim card?

Hi all

Just wondering if anyone knows if it would be possible to sim unlock an orange phone without an orange sim card ?

Basically I'm trying to get a sim free C550 sent to ireland, so if I do get it I won'y be able to get my hands on an orange sim card (no Orange here)

also what would be the story with app unlocking it in this case too ?

I think you may be able to use IMEI-check. I unlocked a T Mobile MDA II there that I borrowed for a while so that I could use Orange SIM in it. It costs about £20 if I remember but you will get the network unlock code.
