Guest Jamez-Tij Posted July 23, 2005 Report Posted July 23, 2005 Hi there, I'm about to upgrade and I'm pretty interested in the orange SPV M500, but I needed some answers if anyone out there can help... Firstly, is anyone knocked out by the Sony Ericsson K750i or the PalmOne Treo 650 smart phone.. or any other similar phone that beats the M500? Apparently you can get a WiFi adapter for the SD port AND one that comes with 256MB of memory from SanDisk... but wondered, if like the M2000 the Scarp software works just as well with the M500, so that it can be a Scarp phone as well? ..cheaper phone calls that Orange offer would definitely be a bonus!! Thirdly, has anyone discovered a way round the lack of Line 2 ability? I've got a good line 2 tarrif which I'd have to loose if I went to M500 or 2000... As a speedy phone user, would I ultimately become frustrated by its lack of one-handed use ability..? If anyone could shed any light here I'd be well chuffed. p.s. dont happen to know if you can buy a radio attachment? ta for now... :?: Jamez
Guest k3v Posted July 23, 2005 Report Posted July 23, 2005 ive just got one of these, and to be honest, im struggling at the moment getting used it phone features, i have had a SE p900 before, this is more comparable, th k750 is not really a smart phone. Th m500 is a nice piece of kit but i think its phone features are not as user friendyl esp one handed as my p900
Guest mcwarre Posted July 23, 2005 Report Posted July 23, 2005 Have you tried microsoft voice command with it? Allows you to dial numbers by voice from contacts and by saying the actual number....
Guest Russell@home Posted July 24, 2005 Report Posted July 24, 2005 I'm trying to decide between the M500 & C550. Is the M500 worth the extra £100???
Guest Dade Posted July 24, 2005 Report Posted July 24, 2005 I'm trying to decide between the M500 & C550. Is the M500 worth the extra £100??? I think the M500 is the better handset, you can get far more software for the M500 than the C550 and you have the touchscreen etc.
Guest MitchellO Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 The size difference:features ratio of the C550 and M500 makes the M500 a clear winner in my case. I tried a smartphone for a little while, and not having a touchscreen was such a pain. Regarding the Treo 650, I am tempted, but the lack of funds atm, and my interest in the HTC Universal, have kept me away. I would have to get a Palm WiFi card (And the hacked drivers) for it, as I love wifi on my Mini, and the thumboard would be great for msn and email.

The Treo 650 - would that be your choice over the M500 if funds werent an issue? What's a Palm WiFi card... cos I guess a board could be useful for SMS but essential for emails and msn!...?
Guest MitchellO Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 A Palm WiFi card is the SD WiFi card that is made by PalmOne (or actually Palm again). It has some modified drivers that let it be used on the Treo 650. I had a thumboard on my previous handheld (iPAQ 4355) and I really miss it. It was great for email/MSN, and if I had the chance now I would get a Treo 650.
