have you seen the size of the P800... and people thought that the 7650 was big!

I saw a picture of a P800 beside a 7650 yesterday and was a little shocked, I had heard it was big but not _that_ big ;)

Still it is more of a PDA than the SPV...

but its not jus a phone is it...7650 at the end of the day can be classed as a brick cos it doesnt do that much, it cant really be classed as a pda/phone hybrid. spv and p800 can, p800 is large because it is a phone/pda hybrid so the size can be excused. and its touch screen....

Hmm, according to those stats its a full cm wider than the spv, same height, and a half a centimetre thicker. Doesn't look it. ;)

Also I will be very, very, very, very impressed if the battery life is 400 hours standby and 13.5 hours talk time - thats even better than my T39!! Over 2 WEEKS of standby time..

Still, nice bit of kit, but I'll keep my 65k screen  Also, no points for prices?

Yeah i was impressed with the battery life, only 4k colour depth lets it down though really

It was in the spec, but hasn't been implemented by Orange/Microsoft - they could do it in the future if they really wanted (and should have as they said they were gonna do it). If you ask them, they'll probably say "we are currently working with third-parties to come up with a software solution to the problem" = give us another £10 ;)

I like the SPV mainly because of it's size, and the fact that it runs on a microsoft OS(I have trouble with Symbian). I like the P800 a lot and the in-built camera is great, but I think it's a bit too bulky.

I'll let you all know my thoughts next week when my P800 arrives...

How much you pay for that? Or is it from another "contact"?

Oddly enough I like the (look of) the P800 mainly because of it's size (proper sized screen! proper PDA!), and the fact that it runs on Symbian(I have trouble with Microsoft OSs).

So why have I got an SPV?

(1) Timing - just when exactly *will* P800s be available? Q3 02 wasn't it?

(2) Price - my SPV cost £0 + contract.

Next time (i.e. when my contract runs out) I'm probably getting either a P800 (or similar) or a GSM IPaq running Pocket PC Phone Edition.

Chris.

It's from a 'contact' - I definitely wouldn't pay 550+VAT for it (the best price i've found SIM free atm!).

I'm intrigued to see what it's like - I'm fairly convinced I wouldn't want to use it as my main phone, as I love T9 and writing messages only sucks.

Chris, why would you not get the next generation SPV when your contract is up?

I'd hope in 12 month 3G mobiles will be more widely available. What are the chances of the next gen SPV being 3G though...
