first of all sorry i havnt been active for ages but i will be from now on ! any way my spvc500 keeps on freezing or crashing ! so... this meens i cant do any thing with it ! so... i have to take the battery out nd then the fone resets all the setting so i have to set them to how i want them to be ( my way) this is really getting on my nerves it has only started doing this in the past day ! will some one please tell me 1. why is it freezing nd what can i do about it ?

also can you run a virus scan on it ? if so how can u do that ?

Firstly we need to know what you've got installed and is it on ya memory card or phone?

It does sound like a memory issue to me.

When all else fails you can always hard reset and format ya card and start a fresh. I do this every month or so to keep things clean :)

i havnt got any thing installed on it i just have a memory card in it a 512mb nd it holds all me pics nd some music ! also i have a few videos on it but thats it !

Have you closed any running applications with the task manager. I like to use Binerys SP Task manager and file explorer available from http://www.binarys.com

If failing all that try a hard reset. If you like to use Wndows media player that doesn't shut down afer use so i use SP task mamager/SP TM Free Mem asigned to a speed dial.

Solves no end of lock ups and freezes :)

Right to hard reset is a bit of hit and miss...

Hold both right and left soft keys whilst holding down the power button for about a second and half then release the power button and the screen should turn black asking you press Zero to reset the device.

Like I said be patient with it as it may take you a couple of goes to get it :)

A hard reset will restore your C500 to an 'out of the box' state so you'll lose all documents/apps/contacts on the phone. It won't lose any rom updates or operator specific settings though as these are stored in rom (assuming you're using an Orange rom and are on Orange).

There are no known viruses for Windows Smartphones.

Don't forget that you have to click 'Yes' before you install anything so there's a level of protection there.

Stu's right, no viri yet on Windows Mobile unlike Symbian.

BUT for some reason there is anti virus software. Guess the software companies wanted to make a premptive strike!
