Hi all

Somewhere on this site there's some instructions on how to convert a DVD to an AVI file and play it through TCPMP (BetaPlayer) but i can't find them

Can anyone point me to a link?

Cheers

Do you have to use DVD shrink?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

DVD Shrink makes an .iso of the DVD disc, and well, its about 4.3GB, not smartphone friendly :)

I thought you already had a .avi or .mpeg movie that you wanted to convert to a smartphone friendly format and size. Sorry about that, so ok, you got a DVD you want to squezze down the phone eh? There is an application called DVD to mobile that does that for you, please see:

DVD-to-mobile

Like the guide you found though, especially the no.1 step including a picture, "Load a DVD into your DVD-drive" , who would have thought :D :D

Made me think, how can you backup something when it is not even loaded onto the drive? ...Thus the instruction 'Load DVD onto the DVD-ROM drive. :) :D

Unfortunately the DVD 2 Mobile application is not free, but you could convert your dvd movie to a small .avi file with some DivX coders, most likely free if you google for a minute or so, then just use PocketDivX encoder to convert it to a smartphone friendly format. More steps, but free :)

Gpc: Yeah I know that the disc has to be in the device for it to backup, just the extraordinary information that amused me a bit :D

Cheers
