Guest hbfair Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 A link to a Register article: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/07/25/orange_spv_update/ Quick summary: The frankly pointless C600, the HTC Wizard (a Magician/M500 with a keyboard) AND the HTC Univeral (known as the M5000) will all be released in September, according to an outfit called SmartphoneFrance. By releasing all these phones at once, and so soon after the M500 and C550, is Orange improving the choice of Smartphones available to punters or have they just pulled a fast one on all the people who've just purchased an M500?
Guest atonks Posted July 26, 2005 Report Posted July 26, 2005 D'oh! Beat me to it. Here's a couple of very dodgy pictures .....
Guest hbfair Posted July 26, 2005 Report Posted July 26, 2005 D'oh! Beat me to it. Here's a couple of very dodgy pictures ..... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hehe. :-) Must be something to do with my old contract expiring soon... The big question is, do we wait for the M3000 (better camera w. flash, keyboard, built-in WiFi) given Orange's rather relaxed attitude to getting new phones out the door...? Can anyone confirm the September release date?
Guest amo Posted July 26, 2005 Report Posted July 26, 2005 September will not be met as the originally planned launch date. It will be ready to ship from Banbury to stores at the end of September but testing was extended to 6 weeks (if my memory serves me rightly) last time I checked (which began at the beginning of this July).
Guest Behold Posted July 26, 2005 Report Posted July 26, 2005 (edited) er that not the universal on bottom.... the universal is.... http://dalecoffing.typepad.com/.shared/ima...velscreen_1.JPG the bottom one is another new one not due for release yet. M3000?? its to be the size of the M500 but thicker. the universal is ment for release in october time unoffically and orange want to make sure its on time!!! LOL Edited July 26, 2005 by Behold
Guest mupwangle Posted July 26, 2005 Report Posted July 26, 2005 The bottom one is meant to be the wizard - M500 replacement (Possibly M3000) but I seriously doubt that would come out so soon after the M500 launch.
Guest hbfair Posted July 26, 2005 Report Posted July 26, 2005 Thanks for the info, guys. So the estimates are early October for the M3000 and, say, early November for the M5000?

Guest Pondrew Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 Instead of those grainy pics check out this pic, apparently showing the HTC Wizard in the flesh. Found in this article at idnes.cz. More pics of the device in operation, badged as the QTEK 9100 here at www.windowsmobile.no
Guest hbfair Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 Thanks, Pondrew. I was hoping the keyboard wouldn't make it too chunky for pockets and everyday use, but it looks that way. :-( As there's a new thread for this I'll link to it here. http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=223922
