Motorola announces Smartphone based Razr 'Q'

I'm very excited to let you know that Motorola have officially announced their SMARTPHONE based, RAZR inspired 'Q' handset!

Pictured below, specs, and release announcement, are as follows:

Before you write off the phone based on the picture, check out the size in the specs - WOW... it's small... it really is 'RAZR inspired'.

Look out Blackberry... with the Messaging Feature Pack, this is going to be a great e-mail device (if the keyboard is OK!)

An interesting challenge too for developers on this one, with a ground breaking 320x240 (yes, landscape!) screen...

Yeah, that would be nice, to have some perspective on it, but then again, the Razr line's slim design almost assures us that this one will be small as well.

Looks great though, this might be the one knocking my c500 off my desk then :)

But it'll probably really expensive since the other Razr phones were rudly overpriced comparing to what you got, guess its time to smash that old piggy bag eh :D

It's due in Q1 06 - by the time it slips (as all Motos seem to) it probably won't be released until this time next year (just in time for me to upgrade again!).

Looks good though, interesting that the screen is inb Landscape mode - with the problems of s/ware suporting QVGA in Portrait it will be interesting to see what will work on this.

I'm not too sure about the design, it looks too much like a Treo with a shrunk screen.

This has been doing the rounds for a couple of months at least now, MobileNews industry magazine picked up on it in May/June.

Size wise - looks a bit like a Treo as someone else mentioned, but nice and thin.

To be honest, not my cup of tea. The universal will be my device of choice whenever its released...

Don't like the dimensions. Would be worried about snapping it!

Also agree that with peeps thinking the landscape screen is going to cause issues. Most software surely won't run...

...unless, does Windows Mobile 2005 for Smartphone (as I'm assuming this is) introduce the screen toggle between portrait and landscape?
