Because the new Orange C500 ROM really just adds bugs (not only Bluetooth has changed for the worse, just give your wired headsets a try!), I searched for downgrading instructions.

Basically, I followed post #75 here:

http://www.modaco.com/Install_newest_QTek_...207547-s60.html

First, cert.cab fails to install (File Manager / Run): "Installation failed. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have adequate system permissions." My C500 is a developer edition (SIM & app unlocked), so what does it want then? Upon running TyphoonNBFTTools / SPL / Emergency Flash, the tool simply crashes on me and wants to call mama (well, OCA to be precise).

Any ideas? I'd hate to go back to my Nokia just because of this crappy ROM. But the headsets might force me to.

I've just been doing this for the past half hour or so, I had to go to the Orange OTA website unlock thing and do it again, even though I'm sure I did it after doing the 4.2 upgrade (I've installed things like Binarys software which AFAIK requires an app unlocked phone).

I'd suggest trying the app unlock a second time, after I did this it worked perfectly. Just need to get the timing right for a hard reset now, as I've read that if you do it with a full battery it can improve battery life.

I now managed to downgrade (had to application unlock first, although it was a developer edition phone). However, even the 4.1.1.4 ROM has issues for me (I never updated to that ROM, I directly upgraded from the original shipping ROM): same issue with Bluetooth devices (can find them, but subsequently it won't re-recognize them).

Wired headsets now work fine, however, one issue: with the original ROM, incoming calls were always ringing on the phone speaker too, not only the headset, which is the behavior on 4.1.1.4. Is there a setting where I can say "ring on both phone speaker & headset"?

Someone have a backup or link (Orange) of the original ROM of the C500? It worked for what I needed...
