Guest cboese Posted July 26, 2005 Report Posted July 26, 2005 So I have about 7 MPX 220 Phones on AT&T and am going to swith them to cingular, my rep said I would need unlock codes to do this, but she did not have them, so these places on the we that I can unlock them, can I unlock all of them paying only once? Thank
Guest wildmanviper Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 I dont believe so, they have to be matched with the serial and esn number of the phone to track where it was manufactured and obtain the correct unlock code. Call cingular one phone at a time, usually takes about 48 hours to do but its free and 99% of the time they give you a good one. Heard a couple of horror stories about phones trying to unlock too many times and now they are just paperweights. Good luck
Guest silencer88 Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 I am assuming you know that the phones are locked. I think if you call AT&T and tell them that you need to travel with the phone and use a prepaid sim from another country they are usually happy to provide you with the code. PS. Last time I checked Cingular bought AT&T. All AT&T customers are on cingular and AT&T's towers now and you should be able to get the same deals. So what's the point in switching?
Guest tubaman Posted August 28, 2005 Report Posted August 28, 2005 if you are just unlocking a mpx220, u can use http://www.imei-check.co.uk/, however, they are $38 US, but they do work (unlocked my mpx220 through them). they might have a volume discount if you ask them. The biggest problem with the motorola phones, is that the unlock code can't be calculated, it's a number in one of motorola's databases, and u need that # :) As for the PUC code (too many failed unlock attempts), i have been told that flashing a phone can generally clear this problem up. -Jeff
