Getting special characters

I'm at a bit of a delima that maybe somebody on MoDaCo can help me with. I love my MPx220, but this is really starting to bug me. Currently, when I write a text message or an email, or anything for that matter, if I need to enter a special character, I press and hold the # button and the selection screen for the special characters show up. However, only the following characters appear:

' - ! " $ %

& ( ) , . /

: ; ? @ # *

[ \ ] ^ _ `

~ ¡ ´ ¿ + <

= > « » £ €

Sometimes I write things in Spanish and need the character set that includes letters with accent marks above them, much like writing "Résumé" or in Spanish "baño". Anyone have any idea how to add the characters I need to this list?
