Hi,

I just received my C550 today. I have been trying to re-order the start menu, putting the shortcuts in sub-folders so that the menu has less items in it at the top level.

I have tried changing the order in the registry and also through explorer on the PC and File Manager on the phone itself. There doesn't seem to be any way for most of the shortcuts to be moved, presumably because they are in ROM.

I had an MPx200 a couple of years ago and I definitely managed to do this on that phone.

Can anyone help, because the start menu is a bit of a mess and desperately needs some order brought to it?

Thanks,

Jason.

Hi Jasnewt I used Jeyo Personalizer on my C550 and it worked a treat :)

Thanks! That has let me re-order the items, but I also wanted to put some of the short cuts into sub-folders. I'm sure I did this using explorer with my old phone, but you can't seem to do that with this phone. At least that program means I can access the useful stuff faster.

If anyone has any ideas about moving items into sub-folders, I'd be grateful. I like my start menu to look as neat and compact as possible.

Cheers,

Jason.

Same problem here (I think its got something to do with the Orange OTA Unlock permissions) but if you open ActiveSync on your computer then click the Explore button and work your way down to \Storage\Windows\Start Menu you can move, delete, rename all of the links.

I tried going to that folder from ActiveSync but hit on the same problem. I can move the shortcuts for the software I have installed myself, but can't do anything with the shortcuts for the pre-installed software. Everytime I try I get the 'Access is denied' message.

What are the 'OTA Unlock Permissions'? Sorry, not sure what OTA stands for. Any way they can be changed to allow me to do what I want?

Using Jeyo Personaliser to re-order stuff does help, but I'm still not happy to have as many shortcuts on the top level as I have now. Half the stuf I never use, so on my MPx200 I put all the unused shortcuts in a single folder and put that at the end of the order of the start menu. The rest were sorted into logical sub-folders.

I expect I'll get used to this, but if anyone has any more ideas, I'd be grateful.

Thanks for the help so far!

Jason.

Hi,

The phone wouldn't let me change the registry values for some reason. I did however come across a link for the Orange web site decertifying page. Tried that and got the message to say that the certificate is disabled.

Using ActiveSync and explore, I can now move the start menu items into sub-folders!

Thanks a lot for the help. My start menu looks so much neater now!

Cheers,

Jason.
