Guest heckheck Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 I was looking at SMT5600 today and it looks exactly the same as MPX (menus, user interface, applications, etc). How does it compare to MPX functionality wise? Does it have the same problems? ie. loss of data, freezing, etc...
Guest cortez Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 both phones use the Windows Mobile 2003 software so - for the most part - the OS will be exactly the same. i used the MPx220 for 7 months (6 different phones) and finally switched to the SMT5600 after the MPx220 quit charging (this is a known issue). i had been using flip phones for 3 years and thought i'd never go back to a candy-bar style device. i've had the SMT5600 for a little over a week now and i'm very pleased with its performance; no lockups, no earpiece volume issues, no bluetooth connectivity issues. now my experience is limited and things may change with time...bottom line for me is i don't worry about my phone working as a phone anymore...

IMO the SMT is a superior phone in almost every aspect. Contrary to what you may originally noticed, the SMT actually has much better applications for managing running processes, file management, windows media player, bluetooth support, etc... The screen is actually better on the SMT as well. The only way I'd get the MPX over the SMT is if you prefer a flip phone.
Guest wildmanviper Posted August 2, 2005 Report Posted August 2, 2005 How about the camera and video quality? Is it any better? And the volume issue with in call sound and ringtones?
Guest zero_divide_1 Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 How about the camera and video quality? Is it any better? And the volume issue with in call sound and ringtones? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I work in a Cingular store and personally have an MPx220 and have played around with a SMT5600. The camera quality is a little better than the MPx220, but the SMT5600 only takes 640x480 pictures, whereas the MPx220 takes interpolated 1MP images. Personally, for the quick pictures I take, the quality is not too important, considering its just a phone with a camera built-in, not a camera with a phone built-in.
