hello all,

..ok, so i'm driving along the road, nod off and drive over the rumble strips. my question to anyone reading this out there is... what are rumble strips made of, how are they fixed to the road surface and er... what height are they ?

Just guessing but I presume they are basically a thick layer of road paint.

they're made from paint mixed with used tyre pellets... from what i read on the net there are many different ways of doing it including a machine which actually carves grooves into the road to make your car vibrate when you drive over them.

you learn something new every day, then sometimes you wish you hadn't.
