Guest SCX Posted July 29, 2005 Report Posted July 29, 2005 Hello! I've recently bougth a QTek 2020 and have just stumbled over a new problem. I forgot to load my 2020 over night so it lost all batterypower and because of this want's to "reinstall" itself.. And here comes the problem: It boots up, and leeds me on to the "align screen" part, I do the target-tapping and when I tap the last position, the screen twinkle and the target is back on starting position... Since I've never have had to do this more than once at earlier hard reboots I figured, after about 10 rounds of target tapping, that something is wrong. Does someone recognize this problem and know what to do? Then please, tell me how.. /SCX
Guest Pondrew Posted July 30, 2005 Report Posted July 30, 2005 Sounds like as soon as you finish aligning the screen the device is hardresetting right back. Did you leave the device in the charger to make sure it's backup and regular battery are both fully charged?
Guest SCX Posted July 30, 2005 Report Posted July 30, 2005 Well, it isn't hardresetting, more like it wont accept my alignment and wants me to redo it. I dont get the bootup screen with version number and stuff, it just restarts the alignment process. The battery is fully loaded and the device starts like usual if I remove the alignment process from the startup procedure, except that the screen is way off if I do. Because of this I figure that the problem probably is screen-oriented, can't figure out why it wont accept my alignment otherwise. _______________________________________ "Sounds like as soon as you finish aligning the screen the device is hardresetting right back. Guest fraser Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 If the phone ever resets itself, a manual hard-reset might be worth doing. I'm guessing here, but I reckon that their is a routine to rebuild a corrupted registry, and that's what's kicking in. If it rebuilds itself, keeping what it thinks is not corrupted, things could be a bit unpredictable.

So this isn't the problem. It does not restart, it just keeps moving the tapping target around and between the last target position and the first one in a new round the screen flicks, very quickly, like if it resets the align program. But, I have made a discovery.. I tapped the screen a bit away from the target and finally I got a new setting. The screen is fairly aligned but there is an upward distortion in the touch mask at the lower rigth part of the screen. This I noticed by selecting the Notes software and dragging the pen along one of the lines at the bottom. In the rigth corner there is a "hill" rising and ending in the resulting line on the screen before it reaches the edge. So, I guess the screen is, not broken, but distorted.. I'll have to find a new screen or accept the distortion. Thank's for the help and if You come to think of anything else to try then I'm happy for any help I can get!
Guest fraser Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 Wherever you got the device from, you should be able to get a replacement under guarantee. It does sound like it's physically broken.
