M2000 MDA3 Wifi and Exchange

Folks - I'm looking at changing our work's mobile suppliers (from vodaphone).

One cool thing we've been looking at is using the direct integration of the e-mail on the M2000 and MDA3 with our exchange server (I don't want to spend loads on blackberry servers!)

Anyhow - I've got Tmobile and Orange bidding for the contract and I've got the M2000 and MDA3 on loan, but there seems to be a few differences between them in connectivity.

OK so where do we start - I set up activesync on both of them to sync directly with our exchange server.

I then manage to get the MDA3 to sync over the cradle (no GPRS/WiFI switched on). The wireless icon lists that the MDA3 has an internet connectio via the dock.

The M2000 won't sync to the exchange server through the cradle.

Onto WiFi

Now I seem to get them both to sync, and also onto GPRS - reasonable good performance here.

However - problems begin on the M2000 when swithching bewtween all the connectivity modes, and between WiFi at work, GPRS on the road, and wifi at home, the M2000 seems to like a soft reset.

One difference I noticed is that the MDA3 has a "W" icon on the top toolbar for accessing the connectivity settings, The M2000 as a small "antenna" icon. This doesn't match the Orange manual on p76 - they refer to a "W" icon. So have I got the wrong s/w on the M2000. Why won't it connect via the cradle?

Any help appreciated

Hi - I've got it on O2 and despite a few problems with the OS and its stability -the screen frezees every once in a while and the xda needs a soft reset- it works pretty well;

since you can test drive the two devices on orange and tmobile, how do they compare? Do yuou feel a rom is more stable than another? Is the tmobile today screen as intrusive as the O2 screen? Which device seems to perform better than the other?

It would be great if you could post your impressions, since tmobile shops do not the mda III in stock... no way to test them!

Cheers 8)

There's not much to call between the two. The today screens are almost identical and so are all the installed apps (the MDA3 has some sort of Fax s/w built in, but I've not tried it).

Biggest prob is that the M2000 does not "see" my office network via the docking cradle (the MDA3 does!) and so when syncing the M2000 with my exchange server mail - it has to go through the wireless LAN. And even then, it normally needs a reboot before it can see my office LAN.

Not used the O2 one though.

But my problem still stands - can anyone get the M2000 to sync to exchange server via the docking cradle - and also get the WLAN to switch accesspoints without needing a reboot.
