Guest nikjensie Posted July 30, 2005 Report Posted July 30, 2005 (edited) Does anyone know if it's possible to have the OS in one language and have the iTap language set to another? HTC had the implemented perfectly where you choose language in the Compose Message screen, but Motorola seems to have overlooked this. Is it possible with some RegTweaking maybe. Could this be a little mission for a programmer to get us MPx220 users this function? An add-on app maybe? Best Regards Nik Edited July 30, 2005 by nikjensie

Best Regards Nik <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yesterday I updated my mpx220 to 1.47 (generic european) and it seems that this mobile now does support this feature. My mothertounge is german and so all of my sms messages are written in german although I personally like to use English as the main language for most of my devices. Setting the language to English also changed the iTap language as you know. After flashing my phone and turning it on again, I noticed that the underlined Abc symbol on the top right was different, it had a dotted thicker line over it. When I change the input modes to the ones without the dotted line iTap uses English as input language and with the dotted lines I get German (set both as Locale and System Language in the settings). I do not know yet how to change the input language on the fly or even on what basis the two languages are chosen, but if I find out I will let you know.
Guest nikjensie Posted August 2, 2005 Report Posted August 2, 2005 I'm sorry... would you run that by me again... how do you change the input mode to the one without the dotted line?

Since the 1.47 Rom (maybe earlier, but I switched from 1.15 to 1.47) there are now 6 settings, 3 each - all lowercase, first one uppercase then lowercase, all uppercase. 3 with the dotted line over it, using the system set language, and 3 without the line which results in an English iTap language. Guest DicE Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 Der_tolle_Emil, where did you get a generic European update? I'm also in v1.15 and would love to upgrade to something more recent. But I don't want to loose my Dutch iTap files etc. can you tell me if they are included in your version? thanks in advance!! DicE <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, they are included. There are more roms within the .rar file I downloaded from surrealnetworks with the version 1.47. One has also support for Russian (as far as I know), I used the other one, and the only languages I have are: UK English US English French German Spanish Italian Dutch Turkish I didn't try out the other roms and I cannot remember the actual filename I used to flash my mobile but I will post the filename as soon as I get home.
