Guest nickcornaglia Posted July 30, 2005 Report Posted July 30, 2005 Is there anyway to change the system font size? If seen many thread on changing the font itself but I'd like to change the size to a SMALLER size. Especially for reading emails, etc. Any ideas?
Guest nickcornaglia Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 (edited) anyone? It's a hard topic to search on in these forums as every homescreen topic comes up when you search under "font size" Edited August 6, 2005 by nickcornaglia
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 Hi Nick, Changing "Ht" of: HKLM\System\GWE\OOMFnt HKLM\System\GWE\Menu\PopFnt HKLM\System\GWE\Menu\BarFnt HKLM\System\GDI\SYSFNT ..to value= -8 gave the following results: Menu bar, Pop-up menu, Out of Memory window font sizes were changed but not System. :|
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 Some fonts are now smaller. No Photoshop tricks here. :) ;) Notice the difference in sizes of the letters used on this screenshot: ABCDE are smaller than FGHI but they are of the same font value in the registry. Notice also the font size of the pop up menu: To change the font size: 1. Adjust the height of the font by altering the value of 'Ht' of the following registry keys... HKLM\System\GWE\OOMFnt HKLM\System\GWE\Menu\PopFnt HKLM\System\GWE\Menu\BarFnt HKLM\System\GDI\SYSFNT The value of Ht on the sample screnshot is -8. 2. Do vertical and horizontal font scaling. This tedious job is performed on your PC using your favorite font editor program. From the screenshots, you will notice that FGHI are of normal font sizes. Obviously, ABCDE are smaller since they were scaled from H= 781 V= 1489 to H= 615 V= 1117; 25% less the original size. I only tried it on ABCDE to demonstrate font size difference but in order to have a uniform size, all glyph's font size must be altered. It is possible to change system font size. :(
Guest crlowryjr Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 I tried using PHM to edit my reg, but no luck (unable to perform this operation)....any clues? BTW - I'm trying to drop the sysfnt to 12 ... the default is just too friggin large. Rob Lowry
Guest DJester Posted October 14, 2005 Report Posted October 14, 2005 The Ht value of SysFnt, BarFnt, PopFnt, etc are set at 4294967284. What the hell would I change them to, to make them 1-2 font sizes larger? Running Mpx220 with 3.51 rom

Welcome to MoDaCo. ;) HKLM\System\ is a protected registry section (read-only). You can have it via cab provisioning or easier by unlocking the registry to get rid of the read-only attribute. Regarding the latter suggestion...have only tried this on my Tanager and have no idea if it will work on the Typhoon: SDA Unlocker
Guest Bammy99 Posted October 14, 2005 Report Posted October 14, 2005 Hiya all.. Is modifying the nina.ttf file the only way to reduce the size of the remaining fonts? I've changed sysfnt and the others which has reduced some of the fonts size.. but I want to get them all to about the same size... Is there no other registry keys anywhere to change? if it's down to changing each letter in the font file, anyone got any recommendations for a freeware font editor? ;) Cheers
