Which way to go? (was: Automatic sync...)

I have a small problem, probably not to uncommon really. I want a big and fancy smartphone like the Qtek 9090 (MD2000 etc.) because it has a lot of features that I want to use SOMETIMES, but at the same time, I am a bit afraid of the size of such a unit, not really something you imagine yourself pressing down into a pair of jeans when you head for the beach.

To perhaps get the best of 2 worlds, I have started to consider buying 2 units instead of one, first a small basic phone, and then either a smartphone like the QTek 9090 or just a plain Pocket PC without any phone features at all. The idea is that on days where I feel I need all the functionality, ie business days, I will bring the either the basic phone + the Pocket PC, or, in case of me buying a Qtek 9090, just that and not the basic phone. When not on business, I will just bring the small basic phone.

This would work I guess, but the main problem is, they wont be syncronized. This is especially troublesome considering the electronic calender, which I rely on to run my life. What is I have an appointment when not carrying the big unit but just the small basic phone? Even if it has calendrar functionality, which most phones have today, there will be nothing in it.

So, to end a long story, what I need is some kind of solution so that both units would be synchronizing with each other as soon as they are within range of each other, via either bluetooth (prefered) or IR. Is there such a solution available as you know of? Do you have some other ideas on how to implement this in real life? Or perhaps any other usefull comments on "how to think" here. Am I way off?

Regards,

Patrik Johansson

I believe you can sync two devices to the same PC, which has the effect of syncing them with each other. I sync the same device to two PCs, which is a little different, same result tho. You'd need a PC on hand to do the sync, but it is possible.

I have both an MDA III (same as M2000) and a SPV E200 (Smartphone). I sync them both with my desktop and this obviously ensures that appointments etc are synced on all both. Only problem is you'll need to use a desktop to do it and for the time being you can only sync one device at a time.

I take my MDA III out of the cradle before putting the SPV E200 in it's cradle to sync...
