Guest imapfsr Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 Hi Everyone, New member and first post! I just wanted to comment on a few things. I just received my Imate Jam last week and let me say WOW! what a device! I have owned many pocket pcs from one of the very first, Casio Cassiopia( I think?) to a full range of the Ipaqs and I must say this littel baby kicks on all of them. I cant believe the size and how well this works. I have read here lots of complaints about the camera quality but I must say I am pretty happy with it. Sure, its not the quality of my digital camera but its not a digital camera! Anyways, I LOVE IT and am finally happy that I have a PPC that has everything I had always wanted in a PPC(except for Wifi but I could never get that to work real well anyway, so I will sync with a Bluetooth dongle). So I just wanted to let everyone know about a pleasant little surprise I discovered( I hope its not known already) I just purchased the Iriver FM adapter to play my MP3s through my car radio as I have a couple of 1G SD cards, and it works surprisingly well. My surprise was how would this work when my phone rings? Would I have to unplug the adapter to answer the phone? Would it go through my radio? Well, the other day I was driving down the beautiful Malahat Drive in Victoria, Canada listening to some tunes when my phone rang. Now I heard the ring through my car speakers and decided to just answer it as is. Guess what, not only could I hear my wifes lovely voice through my car stereo, but she could hear me speaking as well. I didnt have to change or un-hook a thing. I just started talking and it worked perfectly fine as is. I guess it sonehow knows to use the mike on the Jam to pick up my voice and the speakers to paly the sound. As I have read another issue is the volume of the phone is pretty quiet so in the car anyways, this eliminates that problem all together! Just a heads up and I hope this isnt common knowledge. Have a great long weekend for those of us in beautiful B.C.
Guest Disco Stu Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 Welcome to the forum :) Good to hear someone's positive experiences of what is such a fantastic device. I have read so many pepole moaning about this-and-that limitation but it is still such a sexy thing and I couldn't imagine being without it..
Guest amo Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 Yeah I use this method occasionally too - really clever stuff!
Guest imapfsr Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 Disco Stu and amo, This truely is a sexy unit and I do believe it is the best Pocket Pc device I have ever used and I glad the two of you think the same. I am looking forward to new discoveries using my Jam!
Guest MitchellO Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 Yep, the JAM/Mini is one slick device. It does so much for its size!!! The only thing I miss is builtin WiFi, but other than that its awesome!!
Guest rmg Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 yes, for all the jam's niggles I still love mine. it is teh flawed genius.
