Smart411 a 411 Application

HI All,

I wrote a 411 Client to the popular Berry411 search engine.

I used to use Berry411 for my blackberry and I liked it a lot, however since I switched to SMT5600 I missed that app. Hence I began to write the app myself. After talking to Phil Bogle (www.thebogles.com), the author of Berry411, he allowed me to use his search tool.

The result is Smart411 application.

You can use this OTA installer link http://thebogles.com/Smart411.jad ,

if you have trouble installing then download the JAR file from this location.

Copy the JAR into any temp folder, use the File Manager to navigate to the file and click on the JAR file, that will install the APp into your smartphone.

You should see the link to Smart411 under Java apps (I guess it is under accessories).

ALso note that, your phone should be able to connect to Internet (I tested this on SMT5600), but should work on any MIDP 2.0 phones.

Well I got it started but here are some things that occured.

It was hard to navigate back ( I used the Back button) especially from after you started your search and was in IE, then you couldn't get back to 411 which is a wanted feature. After a search I as a user wants to easily navigate back to the search function in 411.

Secondly, will it work with Opera? Do I have to set Opera to be default browser?

I use platFormrequest call to invoke the browser, hence it calls the default browser. If you set Opera as the default browser , it would be launched.

Yes, I know the issue with back button, right now due to technical difficulties, I close the app after it has done searching. Next version will be better...

Cool, some other thougts I had was that when picking service, i.e. yellow pages--white pages etc, it sometimes hang or just wont pick the one I wanted.

But hey, keep up the good work, we'll stay with you and test it further!
