Guest RazorD Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 Hey guys, has anyone else noticed that some times the length of the text message you can send is reduced? I noticed once when i first got it, and just figured it was a bug, as it kinda fixed itself during writing the text, but i noticed it again this morning, and now im worried as to how many other times i havent noticed it... I'm not sure it the length of one message is reduce to 70 characters everytime, but thats what is was today.. Basically, if i wrote a message over 70 characters, it told me it was 2 messages... This worries me, becasue if its done it when i havent noticed a load of times, and if it has really sent it as 2 messages, i could end up with a massive bill for texts. It happened when i chose to reply to a text, but i sent a copy of the text to myself too, and the body of the text i was replying too wasnt included in the text. Anyone else had this problem? -Raz
Guest Disco Stu Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 It has got something to do with Unicode. You can switch it on or off but that's about all I know... :?: Sorry

Guest dwj Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 Any idea how you turn it off? :) Thanks for getting back to me, though! ;) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It seems that it shortens message length from 160 to 70 characters when you use an apostrophy. Like I'm or don't. Can't imagine why and I'm not even sure what unicode is but it does seem to work if you switch it off. Go to messages, then tools, then options, then accounts, then click on text messages and the unicode box is there for you to untick.

Didn't realise it was on the Magician too.
Guest Disco Stu Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 Thanks dwj. I couldn't find it again myself  :)
Guest RazorD Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 (edited) Thanks a lot for that guys... Damn strange :) Don't suppose this would also explain why the phone likes to send messages twice? :S Edited August 1, 2005 by RazorD
