Jam GPS COM port

Hi, I've just loaded Tom Tom 5 and am trying to use it through a mate's Socket BTGPS receiver (the same as Emtac I think). The pairing seems to go OK and the BTGPS appears unders COM ports. But it doesn't have a number in brackets to show which COM port. And when I go to edit the connection the drop-down options under 'Port:' are blank. So, no GPS connection. Any ideas?

Oh, and second question would be - anyone had a 'good' experience with a GPS receiver and the Jam?

cheers

I have TT5 & BT GPS working fine on my Jam

Once you have initially paired the GPS, load TT and choose COM4

If it's not there, you may want to look at the Bluetooth settings in Start > Settings > System and check the two tick boxes are ticked.

Also I've found that sometimes TT won't connect, just go into TT GPS configure, choose COM5 then go back and choose COM4.

Hope this helps,

Bertie

Thanks for that Bertie, I'll give it a try. The more immediate problem today though, is that with Tom Tom loaded I can barely use the phone. It keeps freezing, won't trun off or on, goes mega slow and won't let me pick up calls. I've uninstalled it till I can find a solution. Did you have any problems like that?

cheers

Ben

Try turning off the POI in the map view. Will make it run much faster, and you can still do "navigate to POI" when you need it.
